On Friday, May 2, 2025, the Clovis Amateur Radio Pioneers (CARP) gathered at the Clovis Senior Activities Center for our monthly meeting, where President Rob Mavis, AE6GE, delivered an engaging presentation on fox hunting. In the world of amateur radio, fox hunting—also known as Amateur Radio Direction Finding (ARDF)—is a dynamic radiosport that challenges participants to locate hidden radio transmitters using direction-finding techniques.
Rob shared practical insights into the equipment, strategies, and skills needed for successful fox hunting, highlighting its role in sharpening radio expertise and its real-world applications, such as locating interference sources or emergency beacons. His enthusiasm and deep knowledge, drawn from years of experience in the hobby, sparked lively discussions and inspired attendees to explore this exciting aspect of ham radio.
The meeting was a testament to CARP’s mission of fostering education and community through amateur radio. A big thank you to Rob for an informative session! Visit www.k6arp.org for updates on future meetings and events, including our next fox hunt.
