Candidate Statement for James Majors K6JDM
I welcome the opportunity to continue working as a member of your Board of Directors. It is an honor to work with a dedicated group of enthusiasts who share in a mission to advance the understanding and application of amateur radio in the Central Valley.
In 2017, I was selected to represent our organization as a Board Member. I am a member of a Board with two other community non-profits and bring over 15 years of service and expertise to the table. This exposure to community and membership needs helps to serve each of you productively.
I’ve helped to expand our public services with the Angel Babies and Climb to Kaiser events. Working closely with our President, I’ve alleviated some of the issues related to staffing and planning for events – allowing him time to focus on other aspects of club management. During my tenure, we have seen positive growth in our fireworks profits and community partnerships that have increased our donations and membership base.
Our current board is comprised of intelligent and motivated people, committed to engagement and knowledge of our purpose. My goal is to continue serving each of you in this capacity and greatly appreciate your vote.
Candidate statement for Tom Reinhart (N6MQG)
This is Tom N6MQG. I currently serve as you secretary on the Clovis Amateur Radio Pioneers (CARP) Board of directors. My term is up this year and I’m asking for your vote to continue to serve on the CARP Board of directors.
I have been a ham radio operator for many years. I served on the CARP Board in its early years. And I have enjoyed serving for the past several years. I have worked many events utilizing my ham radio skills. I was just recently appointed the instructional coordinator for the valley for ham radio.
I enjoy the hobby of ham radio. And that is how I present myself as serving on the CARP Board. I believe board business is very important, however, this is just our hobby. I have enjoyed working with other fellow ham radio operators on the CARP board, and would appreciate your vote to continue with this honor to serve.
Candidate Statement for Norman Shomber WB6LLW
I made my first amateur radio contact as a Novice licensee (KNØIJT) in January 1957. Later that year I upgraded to General class and then in 1972 I upgraded to Advance class license which I still hold. My current interests are satellite communications, rag chewing on 75 and 40 meters, and outside of ham radio I dabble in electronic industrial controls.
Thanks to the outstanding leadership and guidance exhibited by our club’s officers and directors we enjoy a leadership role as a premier ham radio club in central California. This is evidenced by our public service providing support and safety communications for various community events, by providing classes to encourage and teach potential hams, by fostering outreach programs to further the growth of amateur radio, and by participating in ham radio activities such as Field Day.
Over the years I have held various offices in similar 501(c)(3) organizations and am familiar with their administration. I have an avid interest in the Clovis Amateur Radio Pioneers and its future, and with your vote and my 60 years’ experience as a licensed ham I look forward to contributing to the continued success and growth of our club.
