The Clovis Amateur Radio Pioneers is pleased to offer the community a series of educational classes to help citizens obtain an Amateur Radio License from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
This first level license class will cover all the topics and subjects found in the Technician level exam and expose participants to the theory and application of radio communications. If you have an interest in emergency communications, friendly conversation, public service, technological challenges, this class will introduce you to the hobby, sport, and field that is amateur radio communications and prepare you to sit for the FCC exam.
This class is not mandatory but is a great way to learn for the exam and hear real world experience. In just a few short weeks for just two nights a week, you’ll be taught by other amateur radio operators who are passionate about amateur radio and willing to share their knowledge with you.
To get the most from the classes, some homework is encouraged (Pre-Study Guide Homework). Those that attend ALL CLASSES have a much higher chance of passing the exam their first time. The test is only 35 questions and you must achieve 74% or better to pass. You can do it with our help!
The material the classes will cover originate from the book Gordon West Technician Class 2018-2022 FCC Element 2 Radio License Preparation, 9th Edition. While not necessary, it is STRONGLY ENCOURAGED that you purchase a copy BEFORE the class. Copies can be purchased online at Amazon.com or directly from W5YI.org.
We look forward to seeing you in class and taking your first step in official amateur radio communications!
