CQ’s “Washington Readout” editor Fred Maia, W5YI, a leading amateur radio journalist and a pioneer of volunteer examining, passed away on March 28 after a battle with cancer. He was 76. Services are scheduled for March 31 in Fred’s hometown of Arlington, Texas.
