Invitation to Clovis Amateur Radio Pioneers members:
HAZARDOUS MATERIALS AWARENESS AND “EMERGENCY RESPONSE GUIDEBOOK” TRAINING
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 26, 2017 AT 6:00 PM
Fresno CERT instructor, George Mavrikis, Supervising Deputy State Fire Marshal with Cal Fire, will be presenting a free hazardous materials awareness class from 6:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday, April 26, 2017. The class will identify the many types of hazardous materials that might be found on our roadways and rail systems; in our own homes and workplaces, and the commercial facilities we visit. The class will draw extensively from therecently updated “Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG) for First Responders” which covers how to identify potential hazards, public safety considerations, evacuation parameters, responses to spills or leaks, recommended first aid, etc.
All course participants will receive a hard copy of the ERG for your go-bags. The 2016 ERG is now available as a free app on smart phones. If possible, please download this valuable app prior to the class. (Note: Some companies sell the ERG. Be sure to select the free ERG app from the Department of Transportation.)
The course will be held in the Fresno Fire Department’s main/headquarters training room at 911 H Street at Tulare, across from Chukchansi Park. There is a large, no-fee parking lot on the west side of HQ. The lot is fenced and the south gate will be opened approximately 20 minutes prior to class and will be closed again at 6:15.
This course offers extremely valuable information to every person who might come into contact with any hazardous material in your workplace, neighborhood, public venue or while traveling. Fire Marshall Mavrikis is one of Fresno CERT’s most sought after speakers and we hope you can join us for this informative and enjoyable class.
Please register by email to CitizenCorps@fresno.gov with: (1) your name, (2) affiliation, and (3) email address. (You will be automatically registered unless you are notified that the course is at capacity.)
