MARC Sponsored T-Hunt
The Mountain Amateur Radio Club will be putting on a T-hunt (transmitter hunt) on Saturday, February 11 at 10 AM, weather permitting. Starting location will be the Sierra Star parking lot in Oakhurst. It will be a little different than previous hunts in that there will be a real hidden transmitter. You will not be looking for a vehicle parked somewhere with the transmitter. The transmitter, IDer, and antenna will be placed along the side of a road (about 10 feet from the edge of the road) and left unattended until someone finds it. For this reason the use of an attenuator may prove very valuable when getting close to the transmitter.

Comm Volunteers Needed for 2011 Off The Front Bicycle Century Ride
The Off The Front organization has again requested that CARP and the valley amateur community provide communications for the Second Annual Off The Front Century Bicycle Ride.
Off The Front is a charitable organization who’s mission is to help with education and fight childhood obesity in impoverished areas. One of their goals is to give bicycles children in these areas who meet academic and health benchmarks.
The event will be held on Saturday October 8, 2011. The various rides and courses will change slightly from last year. Communications will be provided at the reststops, in the SAG vehicles and at base.
Due to the length of the event, both time and distance, we can use as many volunteers as possible to make the event come of smoothly. If you are interested in assisting with communications this year, please email email@example.com or call 559-492-7675.
