CARP Inaugural Ham Radio Swap a Great Success

CARP Inaugural Ham Radio Swap a Great Success

On September 18, 2010 CARP held its first Ham Radio and Electronics Swap Meet at the New Hope Community Church from 8 to 11 am. There was plenty of vendors with a good variety of newer and vintage ham radio and test equipment for sale. Many hams from around the valley and out of the area showed up to view and purchase the wares.

While many of the prices were fair, there was plenty of friendly haggling between the buyers and sellers. This was an excellent opportunity for an eyeball with the folks you only only know by voice over the air. If you get a chance to talk to Darin K6OSX, ask him who he had an eyeball with.  There was a lot of story telling and rag chew over donuts and coffee. There were also as many new faces to meet and greet there were old friends to chat and reminisce about old times.

Amongst the many sellers at the event was Steve AJ6Y  selling Hats for Hams where he customized hats right on site with your name/callsign.  Lynn WA6LNU was there with some great Test Equipment and some tubes.  Ken WA6OIB had some radios and test equipment. He enjoyed showing off the Icom Aviation hand held with the built in VOR navigation.  Pat W6YEP showed up with some beautiful vintage gear. Rob AE6GE had a very nice collection of  Globe Electronics radios and accessories.

The Clovis Amateur Radio Pioneers would like to thank all the vendors/sellers, the hams who showed up to look and buy and to the New Hope Community Church for use of their facilities.

More photos of the event can be viewed in the CARP Photo Gallery.
