The CARP Camp-a-long has been scheduled for the weekend of July 25 and 26.
July 25-26, 2009
The Granite Creek and Bowler group campgrounds are located approximately 90 miles north-east of the Fresno/Clovis area. The drive from Fresno takes approximately 3 hours. The route takes you through North Fork and along a Scenic Byway with some breathtaking views of the upper San Joaquin River and Mammoth Pool. The road is paved up to the last couple of miles where it turns to dirt/gravel. Here is a Google map of the drive.
Note: The directions through North Fork can be a bit confusing, follow directions to Minerets Road/Mammoth Pool Road.
The plan is for Bowler Campground. A group is heading up on Friday, so use the CARP repeater (147.675 – 141.3) for talk-in.
The campgrounds have vault toilets, tables and fire rings. There is no fee at these campsites.
The area has many activities to offer:
- Streams and Creeks for Fishing
- Very scenic drives
- 4WD trails
- Hiking Trails
The two campgrounds are three miles apart and they are first come first served, so we will determine which campground once we get up there. For more information on the campgrounds follow the links to Granite Creek or Bowler Campground.
