Repeater Outage
In January the Sierras above the valley was pounded with wind and
snow from a series of storms resulting in downed lines and several
power outages in the mountain areas. The location of the CARP repeater
site experienced several outages from the storms.
The CARP repeater site does have generator backup, but it seems the generator set did not fire during some of the outages.
The CARP Technical Committee will be working with the landlord to
determine why the generator did not fire during those times and attempt
to resolve the problem.
After the power came back up some of the equipment was knocked
offline disabling the link between Mile High and Clovis, preventing use
of the IRLP/Echolink node from the high-level repeaters. During a break
in the storms members of the Technical Committee made the trip to the hilltop and re-established the link. Thanks to Rob AE6GE and Patrick KI6QOH.
There are still a few minor issues that need to be addressed from
the power outages. Some of the Repeater controller user commands may
not work at this time. We will be addressing this issue soon.
Estate Equipment up for Auction
CARP still has some of the KD6DRY estate equipment. We will be
offering the equipment to the club membership and attendees at the February membership meeting on Friday February 5th via a silent auction. All
equipment has a reasonable reserve, but there are great deals to
be had. This will be a great opportunity for new hams to get a nice
piece of radio gear!
All the equipment is used, but most is in great shape. We have tested the
radios for transmit and receive. Equipment that is still available for
the silent auction:
- Alinco DR-235 220 Mobile
- Alinco DR-635 2/440 Mobile
- Alinco DR-119 2M Mobile
- Alinco DR-130 2M Mobile
- Kenwood TS570DG HF Radio
- Larson KG 2/70 On glass dual band
