Texting Underground Can Save Lives And Caves

Caves are some of the last places on the planet left to explore. Though caving is relatively safe, if something goes wrong deep inside the earth a rescue can take days – in part because cell phones and walkie-talkies don’t work underground. But a remarkable teenager in New Mexico has invented a device that may significantly speed that process with the ability to text from underground caves. Power is Restored and the CARP Repeater System is Back Up

Looks like the power was restored to the hilltop around 2pm today. Repeaters are back functional, but there is still a problem with the link so the IRLP and echolink is not linked to the hilltop.

The Technical Committee is coordinating a trip to the hilltop for next weekend, hopefully the roads will be clear by then.

CARP Repeater Down Due to Power outage

by: Rob Mavis AE6GE
January 21, 2010

Power Outage Due to Winter Storm has left Repeaters of the Air

Due to the series of winter storms that has pounded the area, there has been an extended power outage in the Shaver Lake/Mile High area. This has resulted in the CARP high-level repeater system being out of service.

When the power is restored the repeater system should be back up.

Currently out low-level repeater located near downtown Clovis is operational. The frequency of that repeater is 440.350 MHz, 141.3 hz tone.
