NWS Products and Services Reference Guidebook Now Available

The National Weather Service (NWS) provides many products and services which can be used by other governmental agencies, Tribal Nations, the private sector, the public and the global community. The data and services provided by the NWS are designed to fulfill users’ needs and provide valuable information in the areas of weather, hydrology and climate. In addition, the NWS has numerous partnerships with private and other government entities. These partnerships help facilitate the mission of the NWS, which is to protect life and property and enhance the national economy. This document is intended to serve as a reference guide and information manual of the products and services provided by the NWS on a national basis

K6ARP 2010 June VHF Contest Results

K6ARP 2010 ARRL June VHF QSO Party Results

The 2010 ARRL June VHF QSO Party results are now available on the ARRL Contest Results Database.

The Clovis Amateur Radio Pioneers operated the contest on Black Mountain in the Santa Barbara Section. Logs were submitted under Multi-Operator category with an ultimate score of 29,750.  207 QSOs were made with 119 Grids (multipliers).

Valley Hams Cooperate to Provide Communications for Charity Bicycle Ride

Particpant in the 2010 Off The Front Charity Bicycle Ride

On Saturday October9, 2010 amateur radio clubs and organizations from around the valley came together to provide radio communications for the inaugural Off The Front Charity Century Bicycle Ride.

Off The Front is a charitable organization who’s mission is to help with education and fight childhood obesity in impoverished areas. One of their goals is to give bicycles to 4th grade children in these areas who meet academic and health benchmarks.

Special Event Station to Commemorate NRA Birthday

Special Event Station to Commemorate the National Rifle Association’s 139th Birthday

The Yavapai Amateur Radio Club (YARC) of Prescott, Ariz., will operate a special event station November 17, 2010, in celebrationof NRA’s 139th birthday. The amateur radio station will operate from the Gunsite Academy’s 2000-acre campus north of Prescott, Ariz. The special event call sign will be K7NRA, an FCC-licensed amateur radio station. The operation will take place from 1500 to 2300 UTC (0800 to 1600 MST) on the following frequencies: 7.250, 14.250 and 21.335.

A unique NRI/Gunsite QSL Card (acknowledgement of communications) will be forwarded to those stations contacted during the event. All amateur stations, especially those operated by NRA members and Gunsite alumni, are urged to participate. More information can be found at YARC’s website: www.w7yrc.org

CARP October 2nd 2010 T-Hunt Results

On Sat night I put together a hunt for the local CARP group…lots of fun.

Hunt started a 6:43 from Letterman Park with 4 teams participating. There were 3 transmitters used at a location behind commercial businesses at Cedar and Bullard.

FRESNO EMCOMM – ARES/RACES October 2010

September 28, 2010- If you think you missed the ARES 75th Birthday party, my mistake, it is October 30!  The last of all the happenings this month. The ARRL SET is on the 2nd and 3rd, a Bicycle Race on the 9th, the “Great Shake Out” on 21st and the “After Shock” on the 23rd.  All this while we are implementing enhanced structure for ARES/RACES.  SATERN not to be out done begins a new era 1 October with a new Communications leader.
