A second straight year of high profile disqualifications and rules warnings by the CQ WW Contest Committee is winning worldwide support in the ham radio contest community, as contesters say the get-tough approach is the right way to deal with cheating.
Congratulations on starting to penalize cheaters,” said Jarda Loufek OK1TC. “It should have started many years ago.”

The following is an email we received from Steve Unwin K3STV reporting on the CARP repeaters coverage into the back country:
Hello,
I wanted to thank the CARP organization for the use of the repeater and its members for their patience with me as I operated your repeater (147.675 Mhz) last weekend. While enjoying our outdoor recreation, fishing, hiking and 4-wheeling in the mountains above Shaver Lake – we were able to stay in touch with the outside world using this repeater.

CARP Members Loaded for Bear for the 2010 ARRL June VHF QSO Party
The Clovis Amateur Radio Pioneers participated in the 2010 ARRL June VHF QSO Party. Patrick May KI6QOH, Rob
Mavis AE6GE and John Mitchell N7SLX and son were in attendance.
The contest site was located on Black Mountain in grid CM95 in the Santa Barbara Section. The site is located on a communications site hilltop in the rural Los Padres National Forest which was a nice leisure 3 1/2 hour drive from Fresno. While there was no available power and no facilities, there was a nicely paved road all the way to the top of the hill.
Saturday morning during setup the team was paid a visit by a bear. Not to be detoured the team continued on with setup, after the bear left of course, and was ready by the start of the contest.
