GO WEST, YOUNG MAN!
On April 10th, 2010, at 10 A.M., a hidden fox showed up on 147.54 Mc. for the hidden TX Hunt, with hunters from the Clovis and Fresno ARCs. The hidden fox team was Dave, W6TE, and John, K6MI.
Four teams started out on the hunt, and another couple joined after it was in progress, after hearing the excitement on the air. Others were on hand to listen to the activity, ready to help out. The winning ham was KG6MSV, Mike. Using a small beam and a MK-4 Sniffer, Mike drove only 19.7 miles in 1 hour and 19 minutes to cover the 15 mile distance between the start point and the fox den, where a full BBQ meal was waiting, provided by the Foxes. Mike actually drove fewer miles than the foxes did. Mike will be hiding the TX next time. He has had a lot of experience down in LA in the hunts down there, and proved to be an expert.

Arecibo on 432 MHz Moon Bounce
Arecibo on 432 MHz Moon Bounce
The Arecibo Observatory Amateur Radio Club will be putting the 1000-foot radio telescope on the air for 432 MHz EME from April 16-18. It can be heard with a small hand-held yagi pointed at the moon.
The scheduled times of operation are:
- April 16: 1645 – 1930 UTC
- April 17: 1740 – 2020 UTC
- April 18: 1840 – 2125 UTC

UPDATE: CARP will be sponsoring a T-Hunt on Saturday April 10th, 2010 starting at Letterman Park in Clovis. The hunt will begin promptly at 10:00 am so be sure to arrive early.
At the conclusion of the hunt, there will be a BBQ. If you plan on attending the T-hunt, please RSVP to Rob AE6GE at ae6ge@k6arp.org so we have enough food at the BBQ!

Las Vegas Voice-over-IP Meeting
Annual Las Vegas Voice-over-IP Meeting (since 2002) is Saturday April 10 at Circus-Circus just at the start of the NAB.
Each year the meeting is of a broader scope including all the major VoIP systems in use by the amateur radio community, i.e., IRLP, Echo link, EchoIRLP, All Star, D-Star and DV Dongle. New this year is the DV-AP (Digital Voice Access Point is a USB device that you can use with a D-Star HT – buy at HRO or AES).

EMCOMMWest 2010
EMCOMMWEST 2010
The 2010 edition of EMCOMMWEST will be held the first weekend in May 2010. Starting on Friday, April 30, and running through Sunday, May 2, EMCOMMWEST will again be hosted in Reno, Nevada.
Featured Speakers:
- Mark Spencer WA8SME will be our Keynote Speaker at 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning.
- Lt Col Corey Keppler USAF will host a two-hour forum and Q&A session on PAVE PAWS at 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning.
- David Sumner K1ZZ is Chief Executive Officer, Executive Vice President, and Secretary of the American Radio Relay League. He will speak at the Saturday night banquet.

March of Dimes – March for Babies 2010
March of Dimes Fresno March for Babies 2010
Mark your calendars for Saturday April 17, 2010 – CARP will be providing radio communications for the March of Dimes March for Babies Fresno 2010 event at Woodward Park. We have also enlisted the help of Fresno ARES/RACES and other local amateur radio clubs.
